This is so relatable! I’m thinking of how this “need to know” mind relates to your reflections in your recent essay on death/dying. Life’s just one big mystery we can’t google our way thru, and ChatGPT can’t give us the answers to why we’re here and what happens to us. So the little actions of presence (exposure therapy as you say!) I do believe are practice for grander life surrender! Thanks for sharing Ashley I enjoyed this and I love knowing the science!
This really resonated with me, thank you. When I was a kid growing up we had two TV channels. There was always something to watch. Now I have Netflix, Prime and Disney, I can never decide what to watch and end up watching something I've seen before!
My fave new method of shrinking the menu is getting a DVD player + a handful of DVDs that are only my absolute favorites plus a few wild cards that I've never seen (that were like 50 cents a piece). Unless I have a very specific TV show or movie I KNOW I want to stream, I'm turning to my DVD pile.
Also, having Celiac Disease is such a built-in "hack" (LOL, not really, but kind of) against the restaurant indecision. There's one place in this whole town that has a 100% gf menu? Guess that's where I'm going!
Wait Julie I’m obsessed with the DVD idea! it’s crazy how technology has progressed so much that at this point I would rather go back to the old days of DVDs/vinyl records 😭 I might have to get on this
yes!!! we talked about practicing spontaneity and being willing to let something be a waste of time. she was like “so what if you spend your day in a less-than-perfect way, it’s just one day!” Courtney is so wise
